Marietta’s mild winters (lows only occasionally get below freezing) make it an attractive place for outdoor activities. Summers can be hot, and residents can cool off at the Sewell Park Pool, operated by the Cobb County government, or hit the rink at the Marietta Ice Center.

Children living within Marietta’s city limits attend Marietta City Schools, an award-winning charter school system offering a choice of schools that focus on different areas of academics, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and International Baccalaureate. The Marietta school system is the only city system operating separately from the Cobb County school system.
